چکیده

Consider a unit sphere on which are placed N random spherical caps of area 4rip(N). We prove that if lim (p(N).N/log N) < 1, then the probabil i ty that the sphere is completely covered by N caps tends to 0 as N--" 0% and if lim (p(N).N/ log N) > 1, then for any integer n > 0 the probabili ty that each point of the sphere is covered more than n times tends to 1 as N--* oo.

Strong threshold for the size of random caps to cover a sphere

In this article, we consider ‘N ’spherical caps of area 4πp were uniformly distributed over the surface of a unit sphere. We are giving the strong threshold function for the size of random caps to cover the surface of a unit sphere. We have shown that for large N, if Np log N > 1/2 the surface of sphere is completely covered by the N caps almost surely , and if Np log N ≤ 1/2 a partition of the...

Spatial statistics for lattice points on the sphere I‎: ‎Individual results

‎We study the spatial distribution of point sets on the sphere obtained from the representation of a large integer as a sum of three integer squares‎. ‎We examine several statistics of these point sets‎, ‎such as the electrostatic potential‎, ‎Ripley's function‎, ‎the variance of the number of points in random spherical caps‎, ‎and the covering radius‎. ‎Some of the results are conditional on t...

Threshold Limits for Cover Times

Under a natural hypothesis, the cover time for a finite Markov chain can be approximated by its expectation, as the size of state space tends to infinity. This result is deduced from an abstract result concerning covering an unstructured set by i.i.d. arbitrarily-distributed random subsets. running head: Threshold limits for cover times. key words. cover time, Markov chain, random walk on graph...

Government Size Threshold and Economic Growth in Iran

We apply the two-sector production function developed by Ram (1986) to estimate the threshold regression model for Iran, concerning the effect of government size on economic growth. Three government size indicators are used to find out the different threshold points. The results show a non-linear relationship of the Armey curve in Iran, in which the threshold effects corresponding to total gove...

New evidence for the relationship between government size and economic growth in Iran: an application for a three-regime Non-linear threshold regression model

abstract: Over the past two centuries, the role of government and the composition of government spending have changed in most countries of the world. Theoretically, there is no consensus among economists about the size of the state and the degree of state interference in the economy. On the one hand, one can observe classics and market's proponents who believe in a small government and little ...
